BroadcastPrompt.Pro — Changelog

Current version: v06.80 · updated 2026-10-18
v06.80 Fix: the alignment icons (left/center/right) in the formatting bar were nearly invisible when not active (their colour was too light).
v06.79 Per-paragraph alignment in the formatting bar (phase 2).
v06.78 Two polish items in the left column (Prompter View): the FONT SIZE and LINE SPACING value readouts now use the same (smaller) font size, and ‘MAIN ALIGN’ (which wrapped onto two…
v06.77 Settings → Prompter: ‘Prompter line spacing’ and ‘Safe area’ now use the exact same editable − value + stepper as ‘Base output font size’ — same font, size and weight.
v06.76 The main alignment is now shown in the EDITOR too (previously only in the prompter) — set it to right/center and the editor text follows.
v06.75 The editor now shows the configured line spacing, just like the prompter.
v06.74 The alignment controls now show icons (the classic lines glyph for left / centered / right) instead of the letters L/C/R — in the left column (Prompter View), under Settings →…
v06.73 Text alignment (phase 1).
v06.72 Anchor / marker jump (Left/Right arrow keys, rundown click, foot pedal) now lands on the exact right line — including with a large font.
v06.71 The single-screen speed indicator now uses the exact same element as the dual-screen one — the bar, the marker, the ±5 scale and the red ⚡×N turbo state while Shift-boost is held…
v06.70 Speed control reworked and fully adjustable.
v06.69 Touchpad / scroll speed is now PROPORTIONAL to how much you scroll, instead of a fixed step per event.
v06.68 The Single / Dual Screen tiles now use matching icons in the same monitor style as ‘This device’s role’ — in Settings → Project AND on the startup screen.
v06.67 The three device tiles (Standalone / Main / Backup) now have clear icons — the same in Settings → Project and on the startup screen.
v06.66 New device selector with THREE options: Standalone / Main Device (MULTI MODE) / Backup Device (MULTI MODE) — in Settings → Project and on the startup screen, identically.
v06.65 Startup screen: role and screen selection now work identically to Settings → Project.
v06.64 Device role (Main / Backup) can now also be set under Settings → Project, right at the top.
v06.61 Overlay sub-items are now indented.
v06.60 Standby screen: reversed the fade-out direction of the ‘Knight Rider’ light.
v06.59 Announcement: removed the duplicate duration control.
v06.58 Announcement layout no longer jumps.
v06.57 Fixed grey-on-grey text in the editor.
v06.56 Announcement controls tidied up.

v06.54 Three review items.
v06.53 Sidebar hints + rename.
v06.52 Startup dialog: the ‘Continue’ button is back and now reliably present.
v06.51 Install fix: ‘npm install’ now downloads the Electron runtime automatically (the postinstall script also invokes Electron’s own installer).
v06.50 Startup dialog refinement: all three action buttons now sit on the LEFT, stacked with spacing — ‘Start new script’, then ‘Continue’ (only shown when there’s a session to resume)…
v06.49 Startup dialog rebuilt so it’s immediately clear how to begin.
v06.48 Security base upgrade.
v06.47 Security hardening + two fixes.
v06.46 NEW: optional ATEM tally.
v06.45 Rundown polish: (1) the rundown scrollbar now has a lighter lane with a darker, slightly wider thumb, so its position is much easier to spot.
v06.44 Left sidebar height-sharing reworked.
v06.43 Left sidebar, follow-up to v06.42: when the sections below the rundown (Editor View / Prompter View / Overlays) need more room, the rundown list now COLLAPSES ENTIRELY instead of…
v06.42 Left sidebar space-sharing reworked.
v06.41 Fixed a regression from v06.39 (my mistake, apologies).
v06.40 While auditing every sync path: opening a different project file (or restoring an autosave) never pushed its settings to the backup automatically — every individual live edit…
v06.39 Sidebar can now be scrolled when several sections are expanded at once — previously anything below the visible window edge (e.g.
v06.38 Announcement fundamentally reworked based on feedback.
v06.37 Scroll speed can no longer go negative once you’re already at the very first character of the script — applies to the mouse wheel, arrow keys, and the foot pedal.
v06.36 Two small UI fixes: the running-countdown “Adjust” buttons now show +1m before −1m (was swapped).
v06.35 CRITICAL: typing a space in the Announcement text box (or any text field) during prompt mode was intercepted by the Space = pause/resume shortcut instead of typing a space — that…
v06.34 New: Announcement banner in the sidebar, below Clock/Countdown and Progress bar — a short message for the moderator with three states: Off / Preview (visible only in the…
v06.33 Small follow-up: the “Length” label (sidebar) and “Countdown length (minutes)” (Settings tab) are now both called “Set time” — clearer that it’s the pre-start configuration, not…
v06.32 Clock/Countdown format (hh:mm:ss / hh:mm / new: mm:ss) and font size are now adjustable in the sidebar too (previously Settings tab only), as a dropdown instead of buttons.
v06.31 Fixed the anchor-duplication bug: hand-typed shorthand ([[b]]/[[i]]/[[u]]) or text pasted via .docx import could throw off the internal position math, so editing an anchor…
v06.30 Fixed: the role indicator in the top bar (“MAIN DEVICE” / “BACKUP DEVICE”) had a hardcoded “Main” starting value that was only corrected once some connection attempt actually ran…
v06.29 Likely root cause for various “strange” backup behaviour during prompting, found and fixed: the foot pedal reports its state every 40ms — idle or not, even when DISABLED in…
v06.28 Likely fix for “Push stopped working”: switching role via the Backup Device button (Network tab) disconnected the link but never reconnected automatically — even with auto-connect…
v06.27 CRITICAL FIX: roles (Main/Backup) could change automatically without you asking for it — now completely stopped.
v06.26 New rule, applies live: a named anchor with its text hidden (Symbol only) now always breaks BEFORE it and NEVER after, regardless of the break settings — a collapsed anchor should…
v06.25 Fixed a live-sync bug: once a backup had LOCAL CONTROL — triggered by something as small as a single mouse-wheel touch in the backup’s preview, regardless of the selected mode…
v06.24 Holding screen now syncs fully to the backup: previously only the holding TEXT lines (holdingLine1/2) reached the backup machine — the text/image mode and the active holding IMAGE…
v06.23 Script files stay machine-independent: network / machine-dependent settings can never be written into a .bcps.
v06.22 Pre-flight check on the Network page: one button shows, before going live, a green/red list of everything broadcast-critical — sync interface present, strict bind, role, pairing…
v06.21 Strict bind (opt-in) for air-gap security.
v06.20 Network for broadcast with air-gap.
v06.19 Network: help for fixed IP addresses (broadcast-critical).

v06.16 Update Script: cosmetic cleanup of the transferred result.
v06.15 Update Script: anchor line breaks are now carried over too.
v06.14 “Copy for Claude” in the Update comparison: one click copies both scripts — current and the proposed new version — each in raw AND visual form, plus the stats, as text to the…

v06.09 Editor fix (continued): caret drift from MULTILINE headings.
v06.08 Editor fix: caret drift on Word/Windows text.
v06.07 Update Script — slides are now matched by slide NUMBER, not just body similarity.

v06.05 New “Update Script” feature (step 1 of several).

v06.03 Anchor from selection: select text (or a range) and press either anchor button — Anchor or Text anchor — and the selection is turned into a text anchor whose name is the selected…
v06.02 Version compare, made practical — two sources of noise from real agency comparisons removed.
v06.01 Version compare is now usable IN the editor.
v06.00 Start of version compare.
v05.12 Text (named) anchor: after naming it, the cursor now also sits AFTER the anchor.
v05.11 Anchor at the end of a line: the cursor now really sits AFTER it.
v05.10 Anchor at the very start of a line/script: fixed the two remaining symptoms (cursor left before the anchor, and you couldn’t type there).
v05.09 Root-caused the anchor bug (Visual mode, cursor at the very start).
v05.08 Properly fixed anchor insertion.
v05.07 Fixed inserting anchors: the cursor now lands right after the anchor.
v05.06 Sidebar consistency: every collapsible section header (left: Rundown, Editor View, Prompter View, Overlays and its sub-sections; right: all sections) now has a shaded header, and…
v05.05 Removed the rundown lock entirely — the lock toggle (editor and prompt mode) and its setting are gone; rundown entries are always clickable.
v05.04 Rundown now labels each row by its real element type — a NOTE shows “NOTE” (not “H3”), and H1/H2/H3 are correct regardless of indent.
v05.03 Anchor “Auto” colour now means: inherit the surrounding text colour — the default colour in plain text, a speaker’s colour inside their section, white on the talent output…
v05.02 Anchor chip is now outline-only (no background fill).
v05.01 Unified the anchor chip so the text editor and the prompt views (operator + moderator) look the same and respond to the same settings.
v05.00 Simplified how anchors display in the prompt views.
v04.99 Start screen: “Continue where you left off” and “Open” now sit on one row.
v04.98 Blind anchors (no name) now show as just the icon — no frame.

v04.95 CRITICAL: repaired the type-check gate.
v04.94 Documentation/handover round (no app-logic change): CLAUDE_CONTEXT.md rewritten from the ground up — project overview, the binding delivery protocol (versioned zip, excludes…
v04.93 Bugfix: deleting a selection that split a block pair (e.g.
v04.92 Save/recovery UX reworked: no more coloured banner.
v04.91 CRITICAL FIX — closing the laptop lid no longer loses your work.
v04.90 Fix: the B/I/U/AA buttons in the sidebar now reflect the formatting of the selection.
v04.89 Per-element formatting: each element (H1/H2/H3/Note/Speaker) now has a B / I / U / AA row in the element editor (bold, italic, underline, UPPERCASE) to lock in — it replaces the…
v04.88 Cleanup: removed the legacy-decimal migration for the inline format (test build only — old decimal [[f:7]] doesn’t matter).
v04.87 Inline format is now a FIXED-WIDTH binary field, as you suggested: instead of [[f:N]] (decimal, variable width) it’s [[f:0000000001]] — a 10-digit binary field, lowest bit on the…
v04.86 New UPPERCASE inline option: an ‘AA’ button next to B/I/U in the sidebar.
v04.85 Symbols in the editor lost the odd box/background — a symbol is now just the coloured glyph (still deletes as one unit with Backspace)
v04.84 Rundown visibility per element: Settings → Elements now has a ‘Show this element as an entry in the rundown list’ checkbox for H1/H2/H3 and NOTE.
v04.83 Shift speed boost is now a multiplier/factor instead of a percent, and shown that way.
v04.82 The Shift high-speed scroll boost is now configurable: Settings → Prompter → ‘Shift high-speed boost’, in percent.
v04.81 High-speed scroll: in prompt mode, hold Shift to scroll +20% faster for as long as it’s held; release returns to the set speed
v04.80 Fixed ‘Remove element’ shattering the tag: [
]Slide 1[
] became [
][
]Slide 1[
][
] with empty shells and extra lines.
v04.79 Partial-selection headlines are back: select only the first words and ONLY those become the headline/note/speaker, the rest runs on as normal text — so a heading builds fluidly…
v04.78 Fragmentation fixed for good — and your diagnosis was right.
v04.77 Reverted to v04.74 logic: the v04.75 whole-line block-mark change and the v04.76 merge tool are removed; partial selection works as before
v04.76 Repair tool for fragmented lines.
v04.75 Fixed: applying a headline/note/speaker (h1/h2/h3/note) with a cursor or partial selection fragmented the line into per-character blocks ([
]S[
] per letter) and inserted…
v04.74 Starting a new script on a MAIN device now immediately asks where to save it (Save As right after the start-screen device choice), so a real, named file exists from the first…
v04.73 Removed the blank line after headlines/notes: a block already ends its own line, so the following newline added a second, undeletable empty line.
v04.72 Language is no longer system-coupled: the initial value does NOT read navigator.language anymore.
v04.71 Unified language: there is now ONE script language (the existing Dictate/Read selector in the toolbar) driving dictation, read-aloud AND hyphenation — no separate hyphenation…
v04.70 ‘Word breaking & hyphenation’ moved from Settings/Prompter to Settings/Editor
v04.69 Active highlight refined: the header you click (the open one) is now lit one step lighter than its own content, so the open header reads as ‘active’.
v04.68 Sidebar collapse/expand is now animated — every collapsible in the left sidebar (Editor view, Prompter view, Overlays and its four sub-sections) slides open/closed via…
v04.67 Symbol palette in Settings/Elements is now reorderable by drag-and-drop — grip dot on the left of each symbol, drag to move; drop target is outlined in red
v04.66 Symbols management moved from Settings/Project to Settings/Elements — it’s now a ‘Symbols’ item in the Elements list; selecting it shows the full library (click a glyph to add)…
v04.65 Reading line now lives only under ‘Overlays’ — removed the duplicate controls from ‘Editor View’ and ‘Prompter View’; the Overlays group gained thickness + colour
v04.64 Symbol picker: Settings → Project now has a browsable symbol library grouped by category.
v04.63 Symbols now store ONLY the character code as a tag in the script — [[s:CODE]] (e.g.
v04.62 New ‘Symbols’ section in the right panel (collapsible).
v04.61 Overlays: the left sidebar section is now ‘Overlays’ and groups three things — Reading line (operator preview / teleprompter + position), Clock/Countdown (now with X/Y position…
v04.60 New: clock / countdown overlay on the moderator output AND the operator prompt preview (live).
v04.59 Security testability.

v04.54 The ‘Editor’ button reads ‘Text edit while prompt’ during prompt mode (still ‘Editor’ otherwise).
v04.53 Live edit during prompt — the biggest workflow change: the “Editor” button now switches the operator between the prompt preview and the editor WITHOUT ending the moderator output.
v04.52 Reading line now sits ABOVE the blind-spot band, so the band no longer hides it
v04.51 Reading line is now two truly independent switches.
v04.50 Blind spot: new projects default to Off, extent 20%, opacity 70%.
v04.49 Collapsible sidebar sections: click a header to fold/unfold.
v04.48 Blind spot: extent and opacity are now adjustable live from the left sidebar (EDITOR VIEW, under Font size) so you can see the band while setting it — the toggle moved here from…
v04.47 Moderator blind-spot band is now synced: its status (on/off) and extent/opacity/colour travel with every script push and toggle a following backup along, so both operators see the…
v04.46 FIX — end of script: the moderator output can now scroll the last line up to the reading line and into the black, like the master’s own preview.
v04.45 Backup Remote-Prompt bar: the long, low-contrast accept label is now a short, readable status — “Following master” (light on blue) or “Autonomous” (gold on dark).
v04.44 New About → Licenses tab: open-source components, their licences, links and full licence texts — attribution to satisfy MIT / BSD / ISC / Apache notices
v04.43 Controls: new “Wheel / touchpad sensitivity” — speed change per notch / swipe; lower it if the touchpad feels too jumpy
v04.42 FIX — word-break drift: changing Auto break / Break at hyphens / Soft break points now reflows the BACKUP output immediately.
v04.41 Anchors can now be deleted with Backspace / Delete — and the break-line that was inserted with the anchor is removed too (no leftover empty line)
v04.40 Right sidebar: new “Text anchor” button — inserts a named anchor and opens the name field right away
v04.39 Status badges: connection LEDs moved out of the role badge into always-visible peer-status badges — bidirectional (main ↔ backup), greyed with a red LED when a peer is unavailable
v04.37 Backup health: the backup now reports prompt mode, follow/local control, build version and uptime to the main
v04.36 New About menu: Functions overview, Version changelog, and Protocol (session log + connection/version diagnostics)
v04.35 RTL: block headlines, notes and speaker lines now follow their own content direction (an Arabic headline is right-aligned)
v04.34 Per-line automatic text direction (unicode-bidi: plaintext) — each line detects LTR / RTL from its own characters
v04.33 Prompter settings unified to pill toggles and made more compact
v04.32 Long words never run off the right edge anymore
v04.31 Network: per-slot On/Off as a segmented pill
v04.30 Anchors: both-on-Line shows a short line instead of the full text width
v04.29 Anchors hidden on both sides now take zero space (text starts flush)
v04.28 Anchor edit pencil + per-anchor line-break overrides

v01.00 First release

 • Editor & text: rich editor with speakers, headings H1–H3, director notes, highlight/background colour and inline bold / italic / underline / uppercase and inline text colour (select text → click to apply, with one-click clear); per-element styles for H1/H2/H3/Note and up to four named speakers; import from .docx / .pdf / .txt; spellcheck; read-aloud (text-to-speech) and voice dictation; search & replace; undo / redo, autosave (.bcpa) and crash recovery.
 • Word breaking: automatic hyphenation (on/off, synced), break-at-hyphen for long words, a manual soft break point (¦), a non-breaking word group (‿), an overflow guard so no word runs off screen, and a never-fits warning in the editor.
 • Anchors & rundown: named or blind anchors (double-click to name), independent operator/moderator display (line / text / hide), per-anchor line-break override, jump to the previous/next marker with the ← / → keys, and a live rundown of anchors and headings with click-to-jump.
 • Prompter output: base font size, line spacing, safe area and +/- size tags; horizontal / vertical mirroring for the glass; a reading line (show/hide, position, colour); automatic per-line text direction (LTR / RTL, e.g. Arabic / Hebrew); single-screen or dual-screen (external teleprompter) output; and a dark or light operator theme (the talent output is never affected).
 • Overlays: on-screen clock / count-down / elapsed / fixed end-time, a progress bar, an announcement banner (operator preview · live · timed) and an operator-only Blind Spot Reminder band; plus a standby / holding slide with a standby image and two independent text lines.
 • Network (master / backup over the LAN): the main device drives and the backup follows; Remote Prompt (start on all devices) and Local Prompt (this machine only); script sync (Sync prompt + Push on save, or manual push); per-slot connection on/off; automatic backup takeover on link loss (or via the scroll wheel) running autonomously; a live peer health monitor with connection LEDs both directions; and a continuous settings push that keeps the backup in parity during a broadcast.
 • Studio integration: optional, read-only ATEM on-air tally (a red frame on the operator screen while this device’s input is on Program on a main or backup Blackmagic switcher — never controls the switcher, fail-safe); a serial foot pedal for pause / forward and speed; and smooth scrolling with a Shift high-speed boost and an adjustable maximum speed.
 • Safety & control: station lock with an optional PIN; keyboard shortcuts (Space = pause, ← / → = jump, Shift+B = soft break, Shift+G = group); and a startup dialog (new script / continue / open) with the device mode and recently-used files.
